History of LGBTQ Acronym?

Hello Colleagues,

I am very proud of all the recent developments in marriage equality and the ACA. As a result of this, I have been asked to write an article titled “Introduction to the LGBTQ Community”. I am wondering if you can share with me or refer me to articles that deals with the general history of LGBT movement (one questions: when was the acronym first used?) and the health care professions response to LGBT health issues.

Thanks so much for your assistance.

Best regards,

Fidel

  1. This is a very interesting question about the acronym! I think that Mickey’s article on terminology would be a great source on this .. I am sure you know it, but readers might not — so here is the reference! Eliason, M. J. (2014).
