History of LGBTQ Acronym?

Hello Colleagues,

I am very proud of all the recent developments in marriage equality and the ACA. As a result of this, I have been asked to write an article titled “Introduction to the LGBTQ Community”. I am wondering if you can share with me or refer me to articles that deals with the general history of LGBT movement (one questions: when was the acronym first used?) and the health care professions response to LGBT health issues.
